The Carioca Cafe — better known as Bar Bar, thanks to the glowing red redundant sign above its door at 2060 Champa Street opened in 1913 and became one of Denver's most beloved and notorious dive bars. A century-old institution that survived pandemics, fires, and everything the city could throw at it, Bar Bar was the kind of place where bands from overseas played on a whim, names got carved into the furniture, and everyone had a story. It was voted Denver's Best Dive Bar in the 2023 Best of Denver.
